Baptized as Teresa S�nchez de Cepeda y Ahumada (1515—1582), Teresa of �vila, was a prominent Spanish mystic, Roman Catholic saint, Carmelite nun, author during the Counter Reformation, and theologian of contemplative life through mental prayer.
